Feeling so down

TLDR: Feeling so down
The forum thread centers around user ifletcher30 expressing feelings of depression, loneliness, and low self-esteem. Other forum members, particularly Foxy and Catsmother, offer support and suggestions to help ifletcher30 cope during the quarantine period. Foxy suggests engaging in activities such as volunteering at animal shelters or food pantries, or starting hobbies and projects to stay occupied and find motivation. Foxy also recommends learning new skills online, such as sign language or topics related to Special Educational Needs (SEN) children, which ifletcher30 has experience working with. Catsmother echoes the sentiment of using the time for voluntary work and acknowledges the general depressive mood caused by COVID-19 and lockdowns. Kyng offers encouragement, emphasizing that intelligence is not a barrier to learning new skills, such as a foreign language, and expresses hope for ifletcher30's improvement. Overall, the thread is a mix of empathy, practical advice for handling depression, and encouragement to pursue interests and self-improvement during challenging times.
I think with the COVID many of us are feeling depressed because of the lockdown and being unable to go to work.
Like Foxy says maybe look into doing some voluntary work.

How about some online courses? Learn Sign Language or a foreign language. Let this shut in time work for you. When it ends, you'll have a new, useful skill you can be proud of.

That's a good thing to increase your knowledge about. I'll bet there are YouTube videos and things you can read about online to help you broaden your understanding. When the pandemic ends, and it surely will, you can apply your new found knowledge helping SEN kids again. :)

But even as an aid, it's good to know more about the children you are helping. You seem to have a real interest.

This girl shares some very practical tips on working with SEN kids, good for all of us to know. Perhaps you can share some of your experiences with us too. :)

I'm not intelligent enough

I'm sure this isn't true. I expect you're more intelligent than you give yourself credit for - but, whatever the case, you don't need to be intelligent to learn a foreign language. (You need to be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort, but if you're willing to do that, then it should come to you :) )

Anyway, sorry to hear you've been feeling down, and I hope things improve for you soon.
